Projects & Community Engagement
What a privilege to join with the Point Cook community in the "Raise it to the Max" fundraiser in support of the critically ill little Max Pini and his remarkable family.
We, in Point Cook stood side by side today attesting that we overwhelmingly care and are ready to step into the gap when needed.
Super proud of all our neighbours. I live in a community of LIONS and today they roared!
We are in the business of helping the community.
The Lions Club of Point Cook in partnership with the Pentecostal Apostolic Faith Church in Werribee, were delighted to be able to present Chuck with a new wheelchair recently.
Chuck is a 6 year old boy with a diagnosis of unilateral right sided Polymicrogyria. As a result of this, Chuck has left sided Cerebral Palsy which affects his upper and lower limbs.
He is still has the left side of the brain functioning normally, initially his doctors advised he may not walk or talk and have major developmental problems.
Chuck walked at 19 months of age, he can communicate but is having regular speech therapy to help him along. He doesn't have the use of his left hand/arm, he can walk unaided, but gets tired very easily.
With his new lightweight wheelchair Chuck's Mum Brodie can now take him to many more activities.
September 17th 2016 saw the Lions Club of Point Cook supply and erect a sensory/vegie garden at our local nursing home, Point Cook Manor
The weather was perfect for our sensory garden project, a very uplifting day was had by all.
The garden has already had a huge impact on the lives of the residents, the smiles were something to behold.
Now, instead of looking out onto a blank wall there will be flowers, herbs and vegies for the residents to enjoy.
Big thankyou to Bunnings for donating all the seedlings and to John Frost of IG Services for donating and delivering the soil.
